Foster The People fact


The band officially formed in October of 2009.
Mark Foster has a tattoo of a clover on his right shoulder to honour his Irish heritage.
Torches took a total of 5 months in the studio to put together.
Mark Pontius drew the duck for his plaid duck tattoo himself.
Years ago, Mark Pontius and his 2 best friends got matching tattoos. It could be any animal as long as it was wearing plaid
Attorney, computer programmer, graphic designer & photographer were career options Mark foster considered before musician.
Before Isom Innis joined the band, Ponsi handled the maracas, playing a drumstick and a maraca in one hand.
Mark foster says he drew inspiration from Kurt Cobain and Bradley Nowell (from Sublime) when learning to write songs.
Ponsi was packed to move to Australia when @fosterthepeople convinced him to stay just 4 more months and give it a chance.
Ponsi love for Australia started in high school when he went to visit his sister who went to college there.
Before moving to LA, Mark foster contemplated joining the air force so he'd have the next 4 years of his life planned out.
Don't Stop (then known as Kids) was also featured in a 'My New BFF' episode in July 2009.
Mark foster wrote 'I Would Do Anything For You' when working solo. It featured on Paris Hilton's show, My New BFF in Nov 08.

Mark foster doesn't wear a left shoe for acoustic sessions b/c he likes to tap his foot, throwing Ponsi off rhythm.
